Campus Philanthropy Fund to be launched at UPSA, UCC, and UDS to Support Needy Students

Accra, Ghana – October 24, 2025 — In a groundbreaking move to promote inclusive education and social responsibility, the Ghana Philanthropy Forum (GPF) has officially announced the intended establishment of the Campus Philanthropy Fund (CPF) at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and the University for Development Studies (UDS). This was announced at the 8th annual National Philanthropy Excellence Awards 2025, which was held in Accra in collaboration with the France Embassy in Ghana and a larger array of philanthropic partners. The occasion also commemorated the France Volunteers Day celebrations 2025.

The Campus Philanthropy Fund is a student-centered, community-driven initiative designed to make higher education more accessible. The initiative would seek to provide financial assistance to needy students while nurturing a culture of giving, empathy, and community service within Ghana’s tertiary institutions.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ben Ocra, President of the Ghana Philanthropy Forum, and a lecturer at the University of Professional studies, emphasized the program’s transformative potential:

“The Campus Philanthropy Fund represents a new chapter in how we approach student support. We are not only giving financial assistance — we are inspiring a generation of socially conscious graduates who will, in turn, give back to society.” The Fund will consist of three components, he added, namely; a financial assistance component to assist needy students especially during examination periods, a food bank and students enterprise innovations support. Beyond financial aid, the program integrates mentorship and leadership development to prepare beneficiaries to become agents of positive change.
