Cape Coast Community Development Foundation (CCCDF) Launched
The Cape Coast Community Development Foundation has been inaugurated in a grand gathering of hundreds of participants from Philanthropic, public and private sectors. In his opening address, Dr. Ben Ocra, Head of the Ghana Philanthropy Forum, expressed his appreciation to his royal majesty, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II, paramount chief of the Oguaa Traditional area for his guidance, advise, patience and above all, time spent with him in planning the event. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Nana Ekua Abookye VI (Omanhembaa), Nana Benya Amoah VI (Mankrado), Nana Kwesi Egyin II (Nyimfahen), Mr. and Mrs. Nyomi, CEO Coastal TV and Central Alumni Foundation for the roles they played in bringing the foundation to light.

Dr. Ocra emphasize that the success of the Cape Coast Community Development Foundation will depend on the active involvement of all citizens, home and abroad- It’s a call to action, an invitation to participate in shaping the destiny of the Oguaa Community. He stressed the point that, community foundations are not meant for one person, a family, political party, or a leader. It is for the “collective”-community owned and must remain as such.

Again, Dr. Ocra noted that, in the era where people are becoming self-centered, caring for just themselves, family, and friends, where it is becoming very difficult for communities to receive their share of the national cake, we definitely need to dream of a new system. Let this day mark the genesis of a new paradigm, with a new mindset and orientation. Let us embrace the new. As we embark on this remarkable journey, let us remember the power of unity. Together, we are stronger. Together, we can overcome any challenge and achieve any goal. Together, we can build a community that is a shining example of compassion, resilience, and progress.
In her remarks, Mamo Mohapi, Program Officer, Charles Steward Mott Foundation, South Africa expressed her profound appreciation of the work of Community Foundations in the Ghana, and pledged her continuous support in shaping the future of communities through the Community Foundations.
